Three Wheeled Buggies
Three-wheeled buggies are ideal for walking around the neighborhood or running. Their compact design makes them easy to manoeuvre, even in tight spaces.
For an easy ride, opt for a pram that has air-filled tyres and look for models with a 360deg front swivel wheel. However, they are prone to punctures so be prepared with a repair kit.
Sturdy frame
New data show that three-wheeled buggies that were the emblem of the noughties, which were more expensive than common sense, are in a steep decline. Four-wheelers are replacing them, and are more versatile and easier to drive, while also looking elegant.
The basic rule is that the bigger the wheels, the easier it will be for your buggy to cope with bumpy and rough pavements. The larger wheels both rear and front enable you to maneuver and more stable while walking downhill or in difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tested this buggy with a newborn baby as well as a child who was 3 years old and found it to be very durable. It was able to handle grass, cobbles and rough pavements, aswell as dirt tracks and kerbs. She said "it is sturdy to push and extremely solid when you're on rough terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable, so require periodic pumping) offer built-in suspension that was very comfortable for my children.
The shape and size of the seat is another thing to consider. You'll want it to be large enough for your child's comfort. You will also want it to be able to recline so that they can lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies will have an option to lie flat completely while others allow an adult facing one.
The Roma Atlas is a great option for off-road or muddy walks. This buggy is suitable for a single child as early as birth, and can be adapted to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for toddlers and infants from birth until age 4 and includes a bumper, raincover, an improved 5-point harness, and a big padded seat. Storage options are also a plus with a large basket, zip pockets on the hood and a handy pouch at the rear of seat unit.

Larger wheels
Larger wheels mean your buggy will be more stable on uneven terrain, which is ideal for buggies designed for off-road use. They also make it easier to navigate the pushchair through tight spaces. Certain three-wheeled buggies have swivel wheels on the front to aid in maneuvering around tight corners. Others are designed to run and have fixed wheels that lock to provide increased speed and stability. This is particularly useful when you crash into a tree or a kerb. The front wheel can be lifted slightly to keep it from hitting it.
Many 3 wheeled pushchair s have air-filled tyres which allow them to navigate a wide range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They are also lighter. They are more prone to punctures, and you'll need to have an repair kit and spare inner tube on hand.
Our top three-wheelers include the Mountain Buggy Core and Venicci Carbo Lux. According to MFM's Kath, have larger wheels which she claims "perform well on gravel roads, grass and market town cobbles", and can easily climb or descend kerbs. They also have a suspension system which, in her words "smoothes out bumps very effectively".
The downside of having larger wheels is that they make buggies quite large and may struggle to squeeze through narrow spaces. This can be an issue when you're using it for a jogger or to maneuver through narrow doorways when out and about. Fortunately, many models come with compact folding options that allow you to remove the front wheels to create more compact storage.
Easy to Manoeuvre
One of the major advantages to a three-wheeled buggy is that it is much easier to maneuver particularly with a child in the back. They are designed to ensure that the front wheels can rotate at a moment's notice, and are easy to move, making them ideal for challenging terrain such as parks, cobblestones, bumpy roads, and dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3-wheeler with her newborn and toddler and said: "The Terrain was a pleasure to navigate over the rough ground, with the swivel front wheel being especially helpful. I was also impressed with how well it dealt with the kerbs, particularly when using the brake operated by hand. I found it extremely stable when driving downhill or on uneven ground."
The only drawback of this amazing maneuverability is that the 3 wheel buggy 's larger wheels do sometimes mean it has to struggle in tight spaces, something to keep in mind if you live in a city area. If this is a problem, a 4-wheeled buggy may be the better choice for you.

Kath, our MFM reviewer, also adored the roominess of this buggy. There's an easily accessible, large basket that is surprisingly spacious for a buggy of this size. There's also an excellent pouch on the back unit, and two smaller mesh pockets under the hood, where you can keep your keys and phone.
